New York spot gold rose $9.70 Monday, closing at $2,506.90. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 3.74 points to 548.96 while the TSX gold index gained 4.35 points to 349.18. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved higher today. Among those doing so with gusto was Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR). It added 24 cents to $4.09 on 1.7 million shares. Allied Gold Corp. (AAUC) was also buoyant, as it gained 15 cents to $2.88 on 304,000 shares. Mineros S.A. (MSA) was among those southbound. It fell eight cents to 97 cents on 432,000 shares.
Gerald Panneton's Gold Terra Resource Corp. (YGT) closed unchanged at five cents on 57,000 shares on word it has extended its option agreement with Newmont Corp. (NGT: $68.83) covering the Con property in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The arrangement extends Gold Terra's right to earn a 100-per-cent interest in the project to late 2027. To do so, the company must spend $8-million on exploration, deliver a prefeasibility study based on a minimum of 1.5 million ounces of gold, and post a cash reclamation bond. The sale would then be completed with a payment of $8-million to Newmont.
