New York spot gold added $21.80 Friday, closing at $2,580.10. The TSX Venture Exchange added 9.83 points to 580.43 while the TSX gold index rose 6.58 points to 377.71. Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) was strong today as it added 51 cents to $6.85 on 3.3 million shares despite a three-week silence. GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) also did well, adding 10 cents to $1.26 on 1.9 million shares, but its silence has run for just two days. Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE) has been quiet since mid-August but it fell four cents to 74 cents on 285,000 shares today.
Kevin Bullock's Signal Gold Inc. (SGNL) closed unchanged at 8.5 cents on 262,000 shares on word it has drilled a 3.8-metre interval grading 73.92 grams of gold per tonne at its Goldboro project in Nova Scotia. The hit was from one of seven new holes, all of which returned gold. A second managed 16 grams per tonne across 4.5 metres and a third delivered 40.25 grams per tonne over 1.8 metres. The results are from a 26-hole program that recently wrapped up. The assays are in line with those from the first 14 holes reported, the headliner of which averaged 21.27 grams of gold per tonne over five metres. Results from the remaining six holes are expected soon.
