New York spot gold added $4.30 Monday, closing at $2,582. The TSX Venture Exchange added 1.62 points to 582.05 while the TSX gold index dropped 2.32 points to 375.39. Most gold miners listed in Canada moved lower today. B2Gold Corp. (BTO) was an exception, as it jumped 22 cents to $4.53 on 13.37 million shares without benefit of news. The market, it appears, is still reacting to last week's news regarding progress at the company's mine-to-be at Goose, in Nunavut. Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) helped lead the retreat, as it fell 25 cents to $5.86 on 324,000 shares, also in silence.
Keyvan Salehi's STLLR Gold Inc. (STLR) rose three cents to $1.20 on 282,000 shares on word it has drilled an 18.5-metre interval grading 2.81 grams of gold per tonne in one of five new holes at its Colomac Main deposit in the Northwest Territories. The hit, at depth, sounds encouraging, although much of the gold -- 71.8 grams per tonne -- sat within a 0.5-metre subsection. That left the other 18 metres with just 0.89 gram per tonne.
