New York spot gold rose another $35.30 Friday, closing at $2,621.40. The TSX Venture Exchange added 2.19 points to 584.91 while the TSX gold index rose 5.9 points to 378.82. Most Canadian gold miners were strong today but Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN) was not, as it fell 23 cents to $13.15 on 14.08 million shares. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) was among the gainers, as it added 35 cents to $13.01 on 21.82 million shares. So was New Gold Inc. (NGD), which added seven cents to $4.24 on 4.97 million shares.
Daniel Wilton's First Mining Gold Corp. (FF) slid 1.5 cents to 14 cents on 14.22 million shares. The company said late yesterday that it was selling 51.85 million shares at 13.5 cents through a bought-deal financing that will rake in $7-million in new cash -- or just over $8-million if the underwriters exercise their greenshoe option. Further, First Mining is selling another 37 million shares through a private placement that will fetch another $5-million.
