New York spot gold fell $26.60 Monday, closing at $2,631.30. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 2.02 points to 581.12 while the TSX gold index dropped 5.74 points to 368.78. Most Canadian listed gold miners moved lower today. Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM) retreated 37 cents to $5.89 on 2.27 million shares while Gatos Silver Inc. (GATO) lost $1.38 to $20.37 on 57,000 shares. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) gained altitude, adding 10 cents to $3.83 on 2.36 million shares.
Sandy Stares's Metals Creek Resources Corp. (MEK) closed unchanged at two cents on 233,000 shares on word it is taking a new look at its Yellow Fox antimony and gold project in central Newfoundland. The property lies just west of the Appleton fault, roughly 25 kilometres northeast of the old Beaver Brook antimony mine and about 15 kilometres southwest of where New Found Gold Corp. (NFG: $3.45) is working several sites with bonanza-grade gold assays on its Queensway property.
