New York spot gold rose $27.90 Tuesday, closing at $2,746.80. The TSX Venture Exchange added 4.3 points to 627.31 while the TSX gold index added 7.20 points to 416.67. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) carried on with its recent bull run, adding 47 cents to $7.59 on 3.13 million shares. A share cost less than $6 late last week, but the stock added 71 cents Friday and another 52 cents yesterday as construction of its Terronera mine in Mexico moves along. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) did well, adding 62 cents to $15.41 on 127,000 shares without news.
Glenn Jessome's Silver Tiger Metals Inc. (SLVR) fell 4.5 cents to 28 cents on 1.04 million shares on word of an encouraging prefeasibility study of its El Tigre project in Sonora, Mexico. An open-pittable resource credited with nearly 62 million tonnes measured and indicated at 16 grams of silver and 0.39 gram of gold per tonne -- about 31.3 million ounces of silver and 778,000 ounces of gold -- supports the plan. About 40 million of those tonnes, grading 15 grams of silver and 0.4 gram of gold per tonne, are to be mined over a 10-year period.
