New York spot gold fell $33.60 Wednesday, closing at $2,714.80. The TSX Venture Exchange slid 14.59 points to 612.72 while the TSX gold index dropped 5.58 points to 411.09. Oh, where to start: Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX) fell 1.5 cents to 33 cents on 1.87 million shares in silence, hitting an intraday low of 29.5 cents. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) tagged along, dropping one cent to 72 cents on 1.05 million shares, also without news. It was as low as 67 cents at one point today.
On a brighter note, Ascot Resources Ltd. (AOT) jumped to an intraday high of 33 cents, continuing a rally that began a week ago at 16 cents, providing some investors with a quick double. Ascot said Monday that it was raising cash to resume operations at its Premier-Big Missouri project in northwestern British Columbia, and it boosted the equity portion yesterday. There was no news today and the rally partially succumbed to bullion's slide, but Ascot still ended the day up one-half cent to 27 cents on 11.27 million shares.
