New York spot gold added $32.80 Tuesday, closing at $2,774.60. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 2.58 points to 619.73 while the TSX gold index added 5.52 points to 396.08. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) had a good day, adding seven cents to 69 cents on 1.24 million shares. So did Gatos Silver Inc. (GATO), which added $1.53 to $27.85 on 18,000 shares. Serabi Gold PLC (SBI), on the other hand, fell five cents to $1.64 on 45,000 shares.
Larry Phillips's thin trading Compass Gold Corp. (CVB) jumped two cents to 13 cents on 1.38 million shares on word it has an agreement through which ore from its Sikasso property in Mali will be processed at a small facility owned by a Malian company. The deal calls for Compass to obtain a small mining permit using a toll treating agreement, while its Malian partner, SMAT, will provide and install required components at its production facility early next year.
