New York spot gold added $10.90 Wednesday, closing at $2,785.50. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 6.33 points to 613.40 while the TSX gold index fell 4.43 points to 391.65. Most Canadian gold miners lost ground today. Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) fell 32 cents to $17.84 on 933,000 shares without a push from news. Equally silent and southbound with vigour today was Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR), which fell 39 cents to $7.33 on 1.38 million shares.
Patrick Godin's New Gold Inc. (NGD) fell eight cents to $3.97 on 9.14 million shares on the heels of its third quarter results. Mr. Godin, president and chief executive officer, applauded his company's highest production and lowest costs of the year, adding that he expected the final quarter of 2024 to be the company's strongest quarter of the year. Mr. Godin blathered onward, cheering New Gold's "record quarterly free cash flow generation" and its "financial discipline," which allowed the company to make $93-million (U.S.) in debt repayments.
