And on it goes: New York spot gold fell another $25.50 Wednesday, closing at $2,572.30. The TSX Venture Exchange drifted lower with bullion once again, dropping 3.98 points to 593.72, while the TSX gold index lost another 3.59 points to 338.11. Triple Flag Precious Metals Corp. (TFPM) was among the stronger performers today, as it added 27 cents to $22.66 on 289,000 shares. Jaguar Mining Inc. (JAG) kept it company, as it rose 18 cents to $3.63 on 223,000 shares.
On the other hand, Collin Kettell and Denis Laviolette's news-rich but now promotionally poor New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) found room for another fall, as it lost 16 cents to $2.59 on 619,000 shares, setting a new four-year low of $2.57 in intraday trading. Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN) tagged along, falling 46 cents to $12.99 on 4.88 million shares.
Luke Alexander's Newcore Gold Ltd. (NCAU) lost one cent to 30.5 cents on 1.02 million shares on word it has drilled a one-metre near-surface interval grading 204 grams of gold per tonne in the Boin zone of its Enchi project in Ghana. The hit came from one of 10 new holes, several others of which managed to make the highlight reel. A second test delivered 3.36 grams of gold per tonne over 28 metres, while a third mustered 1.01 grams per tonne over 48 metres.
