New York spot gold fell $32.20 to close at $2,648.10 on Friday while the TSX Venture Exchange lost 4.04 points to 607.84 and the TSX gold index dropped 8.07 points to 356.52. Most gold miners with Canadian listings tracked lower with bullion today, but a few bucked the trend. Robex Resources Inc. (RBX) led the way with a 34-cent gain to $2.64 on 70,000 shares. Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE) added one cent to 65 cents on 8.7 million shares. Nearly all the volume came at the open, thanks to a 7.5-million-share cross at 60 cents executed by Canaccord Genuity Group Inc.
James Hedalen's Kobrea Exploration Corp. (KBX) rose two cents to 63 cents on 78,000 shares on word that it is offering 11.73 million shares at 43 cents, seeking up to $5-million for exploration and working capital. Most of the cash appears destined for the company's copper and gold projects in west-central Argentina, as Kobrea had just modest corporate expenditures and no real liabilities at last report.
