New York spot gold reclaimed $11.30 to close at $2,594.90 on Thursday while the TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.28 point to 582.59 and the TSX gold index dropped 2.86 points to 335.73. Serabi Gold PLC (SBI) helped lead the advance, adding 23 cents to $2.41 on 13,000 shares as its Coringa mine in Brazil continues to ramp up. Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) was among those moving southward today, as it fell 35 cents to $4.78 on 1.84 million shares without benefit of news.
Scott Berdahl's Snowline Gold Corp. (SGD) rose four cents to $5.04 on 154,000 shares on word it has drilled a 351.6-metre interval grading 1.19 grams of gold per tonne at the Valley deposit on its Rogue project in east-central Yukon. The interval, which began near surface, included a 172.5-metre uppermost zone that returned 2.05 grams of gold per tonne. (The good news from Valley trumped disappointment from Jupiter, on the nearby Einarson property, which produced low grades over narrow intervals in two holes, and at Avalanche Creek, also at Einarson, where two holes were duds.)
