New York spot gold fell $12.70 to close at $2,701.90 Friday as the TSX Venture Exchange added 7.9 points to 616.34 and the TSX gold index rose 3.85 points to 365.65. Gatos Silver Inc. (GATO) added $1.17 to $21.59 on 15,000 shares while Dynacor Group Inc. (DNG) slipped 13 cents to $6.06 on 33,000 shares. There were busier traders, but they moved minimally. GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) rose one cent to $1.38 on 2.15 million shares while Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN) dropped 18 cents to $12.26 on 5.14 million shares.

Fredy Salazar's Salazar Resources Ltd. (SRL) closed unchanged at 9.5 cents on 402,000 shares on word it has closed its placement of 25 million shares at seven cents apiece, raising $1.75-million. This is the placement that the company launched on Christmas Eve. Salazar closed a first tranche a week ago, selling 15.24 million shares, and it has now managed to place the remaining 9.76 million shares. The company's insiders bought just over three million shares. So far, we know that director Nick DeMare bought 200,000 indirectly, Jennifer Hui Wu, also a director, purchased a heftier 1.17 million portion and Mr. Salazar, president and chief executive officer, bought 1.71 million.
