New York spot gold jumped $36.70 to close at $2,744.50 Tuesday as the TSX Venture Exchange fell 4.56 points to 614.17 and the TSX gold index rose 5.3 points to 372.57. Gold miners listed in Canada were a mixed lot today. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) added one cent to 71 cents on 1.44 million shares while Calibre Mining Corp. (CXB) rose seven cents to $2.42 on 9.95 million shares. Among those southbound was Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO), which fell 11 cents to $2.86 on 1.84 million shares.

Michael Konnert's Vizsla Silver Corp. (VZLA) edged one cent higher to $2.82 on 268,000 shares Monday and added eight cents to $2.90 on 817,000 shares today. The modest moves followed word that the company has "resumed limited operations" at its Panuco silver and gold project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The company is snailing forward with work on a test mine and nudging the project toward a feasibility study, although work at the site of a fatal accident nearly two weeks ago is still on hold pending an investigation.
