New York spot gold lost $3.10 to close at $2,752.80 Thursday as the TSX Venture Exchange slipped 1.11 points to 616.94 and the TSX gold index lost 0.62 point to 371.85. Most gold miners listed in Canada moved lower today. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) fell 18 cents to $15.12 on 7.94 million shares while GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) dropped six cents to $1.33 on 1.08 million shares. Fortuna Mining Corp. (FVI), on the other hand, added 16 cents to $6.40 on 2.22 million shares, while Allied Gold Corp. (AAUC) jumped 37 cents to $3.92 on 2.84 million shares.
Clive Johnson's B2Gold Corp. (BTO) got off to a rocky start today, hitting an intraday low of $3.16 before ending the day down 12 cents to $3.35 on 20.68 million shares. The lower price and the high volume were the result of the company revealing late Wednesday that it is offering $350-million (U.S.) in convertible senior unsecured notes. As well, the initial buyers have an option to increase their purchases by 15 per cent, which could grow the financing by another $52.5-million (U.S.).
