New York spot gold jumped $18.30 to close at $2,771.10 Friday. Bullion has nearly wiped out the $225 loss it took in the first few days after Donald Trump was re-elected president of the United States. The TSX Venture Exchange added 4.31 points to 621.25 today while the TSX gold index gained 4.63 points to 376.48. Most gold miners listed in Canada moved higher. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) was strong, adding $1.33 to $30.32 on 576,000 shares, while Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) rose 23 cents to $11.62 on 945,000 shares. Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) went the other way, dropping 20 cents to $4.31 on 878,000 shares.
Andrew Pollard's Blackrock Silver Corp. (BRC) said late Thursday that it was selling 27.8 million shares at 36 cents in a $10-million bought-deal placement. Bright and early today, it said that because of "strong investor demand," it was boosting the sale to 33.33 million shares for $12-million -- $13.8-million if the underwriters exercise their greenshoe option. Little wonder there was demand as the offering price was four cents less than Thursday's close, but the market promptly closed the gap, sending Blackrock down four cents to 36 cents on 6.58 million shares today.
