New York spot gold jumped $36.70 to $2,934.70 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 1.64 points to 641.90 while the TSX gold index gained 6.80 points to 411.06. Mineros SA (MSA) stumbled 34 cents to $1.86 on 851,000 shares on its fourth quarter results. Andres Restrepo, president and chief executive officer, was "very pleased," but he was the only one it seems, beyond the company's offices at least. Equinox Gold Corp. (EQX) led those northbound, adding 37 cents to $9.95 on 2.09 million shares without news.
Collin Kettell and Eric Sprott's New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) rose seven cents to $2.52 on 909,000 shares. The company continued its wholesale management shuffle this week, with word that Dr. Fiona Childe has been appointed vice-president of communications and corporate development, Dr. Jared Saunders has been hired as vice-president of sustainability and Robert Assabgui has been appointed as study manager.
