New York spot gold slipped $2.30 to $2,932.60 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 3.10 points to 638.80 while the TSX gold index added 0.91 point to 411.97. Many precious metals miners moved lower today, although SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) bucked the trend, adding $1.69 to $14.96 on 1.81 million shares. Today's gain follows a 31-cent rise yesterday that came on the heels of the company's 2024 results.
Among the decliners was Shane Williams's West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG). It slid 13 cents to 63 cents on 10.45 million shares on word it has boosted the size of its bought-deal financing. The company is now offering 23.63 million charity flow-through shares at 84.87 cents apiece, seeking $20-million. After the close yesterday, the company said it was seeking $12.3-million through the placement. (The underwriter also has the standard greenshoe option that could increase the placement to $23-million if fully exercised.)
