New York spot gold rose $6 to $2,939 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 5.3 points to 644.1 while the TSX gold index rose 3.76 points to 415.73. Most precious metals miners gained altitude today. B2Gold Corp. (BTO) added 18 cents to $3.96 on 21.37 million shares, prodded along by word it did well in 2024 and expects that its Goose mine will achieve first production shortly. Those in retreat today also were prodded along by 2024 results. Among them was Oceanagold Corp. (OGC), which fell 25 cents to $4.14 on 10.96 million shares.
Andrew Pollard's Blackrock Silver Corp. (BRC) rose one-half cent to 39.5 cents on 951,000 shares on word it has drilled a 5.21-metre interval grading 3.02 grams of gold and 292 grams of silver per tonne at its Tonopah West project in Nevada. The hit included a 0.73-metre portion that averaged 18.08 grams of gold and 1,834 grams of silver per tonne. Two of the other six holes with assays today also made the highlight reel, including one that returned 3.96 grams of gold and 375 grams of silver per tonne across 3.96 metres.
