New York spot gold fell $19.50 to $2,857.10 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 1.2 points to 614.64 while the TSX gold index added 3.45 points to 400.17. Serabi Gold PLC (SBI) continued its silent retreat, dropping 30 cents to $2.75 on 117,000 shares. A Serabi share went for $3.40 on Wednesday. Triple Flag Precious Metals Corp. (TFPM) was also lower, dropping 42 cents to $23.65 on 1.53 million shares. Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO) moved higher, adding 37 cents to $14.53 on 2.16 million shares.
Rauno Perttu's Provenance Gold Corp. (PAU) slid 3.5 cents to 19.5 cents on 3.1 million shares on word that it has drilled a 154.2-metre surface-based interval that averaged 0.796 gram of gold per tonne in one of two new holes at its Eldorado gold project in Oregon. The grade improved with depth, as the lower 100.6 metres averaged 1.08 grams per tonne. The other hole had a similar intercept, but with a lower grade. That hit, which also began from surface, encountered a 156.4-metre zone that graded 0.505 gram per tonne, with the best assays occurring in its midsection.
