New York spot gold regained $27.30 to $2,915.40 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 7.05 points to 601.79 while the TSX gold index jumped 12.61 points to 417.98. Most miners moved higher today, with Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) leading the way, as it jumped $1.59 to $11.72 on 2.99 million shares thanks to a strong February at its Zgounder mine in Morocco. It had plenty of company on the northbound journey, so offer some condolences to shareholders of Serabi Gold PLC (SBI), which fell 21 cents to $2.38 on 108,000 shares.
Brodie Sutherland's Tocvan Ventures Corp. (TOC) rose two cents to 60 cents on 121,000 shares on word it has drilled an 83.45-metre near-surface interval grading 1.27 grams of gold and 1.24 grams of silver per tonne in one of two new holes completed at its Gran Pilar project in "mine-friendly Sonora, Mexico." (Sonora may be friendly to mines, but it is less so to people -- the United States government says to reconsider travel to the area because of "crime and kidnapping.")
