New York spot gold rose $16.30 to $3,000.80 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 8.05 points to 630.69 while the TSX gold index rose 8.05 points to 440.24. Most gold miners with Canadian listings moved northward. Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) jumped 16 cents to $2.69 on 1.95 million shares and B2Gold Corp. (BTO) added 36 cents to $4.62 on 17.83 million shares. Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG), meanwhile, slid $1.35 to $42.92 on 945,000 shares.
Scott Berdahl's Snowline Gold Corp. (SGD) rose 24 cents to $8.41 on 974,000 shares on word that it is selling nearly 1.88 million charity flow-through shares at $10.68, seeking $20-million. The cash, the company says, is for exploration in Yukon -- presumably most of it to be directed at the company's Rogue and Einarson properties in the mountains of east-central Yukon. (Rogue has been the flagship play lately, and its Valley deposit has been the particular focus.)
