New York spot gold added $9.20 to $3,043.60 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 7.09 points to 638.43 while the TSX gold index rose 3.69 points to 447.15. Most gold miners with Canadian listings strayed little from Tuesday's close but a few were more adventurous. Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) led the southbound trek today, falling 11 cents to $2.54 on 1.12 million shares. Dundee Corp. (DC.A) tagged along, reversing yesterday's gain with a two-cent decline to $2.40 on 309,000 shares. Galiano Gold Inc. (GAU) was strong, as it added nine cents to $1.89 on 602,000 shares.
Kevin Bullock's Nexgold Mining Corp. (NEXG) slid 10 cents to 69 cents on 1.97 million shares on word it has arranged to sell 13.89 million shares at 72 cents apiece. This is a bought-deal financing designed to add $10-million to the company's coffers. The cash, the company says, is for the continued advancement of its exploration projects -- of which there are two flagships in its flotilla -- and for working capital.
