New York spot gold lost $21.60 to $3,022.60 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 2.99 points to 637.79 while the TSX gold index shed 3.96 points to 442.85. Most gold miners with Canadian listings lost ground today. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) dropped 97 cents to $10.97 on 258,000 shares while Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM), up 17 cents yesterday, fell 12 cents to $2.59 on 731,000 shares today. Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG) did well, adding 92 cents to $43.60 on 1.23 million shares.
Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT) fell five cents to $1.77 on 421,000 shares on word that two major shareholders, Crescat Capital and Rob McEwen, were among those exercising their 65-cent warrants, adding a total of over $3.5-million to the company's coffers. Many more warrants are yet to be exercised, and once they are, Goliath will have an additional $6.38-million to spend.
