New York spot gold fell $41.30 to $3,299.80 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 5.14 points to 702.91 while the TSX gold index slid 5.30 points to 476.87. Most gold miners listed in Canada retreated with bullion today. Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) dropped 13 cents to $4.87 on 1.58 million shares while Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) shed 87 cents to $35.56 on 2.52 million shares. Capstone Copper Corp. (CS) led the advance, adding 13 cents to $7.40 on 6.75 million shares.
Shane Williams's West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG) continued on its bull run today thanks to more news to aid its cause. Continued drilling at South Austin at its Madsen mine near Red Lake in Northwestern Ontario has delivered another noteworthy hit. The latest assays, from 28 new holes at South Austin, ranged as high as 61.51 grams of gold per tonne across 12.1 metres. A one-metre portion held most of the gold, with 725 grams per tonne, without which the other 11.1 metres ran just 1.74 grams per tonne.
