New York spot gold soared $91.80 to $3,380.10 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 13.01 points to 707.41 while the TSX gold index surged 27.39 points to 507.07. Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG) helped lead the way, adding $3.13 to $25 on 1.34 million shares. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) also did well, as it leapt 50 cents to $5.43 on 3.55 million shares. Neither company had news to share.
Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT) rose nine cents to $2.03 on 1.24 million shares on word that it is jacking its $20-million financing $4-million higher, "in response to overwhelming institutional demand." The bought-deal offering of 6.31 million charity flow-through shares at $3.17 apiece will continue as planned, but Goliath is now offering 1.28 million additional charity flow-through shares at the same price in a concurrent non-brokered offering. (Remember, too, that the bought-deal brokers also have a greenshoe option, so Goliath may be selling $27-million of stock.)
