New York spot gold gave back a bit Tuesday after yesterday's great leap forward, dropping $27.90 to $3,352.70. The TSX Venture Exchange did gain 9.82 points to 717.23 but the TSX gold index retreated three points to 504.07. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) fell $2.26 to $168.06 on 1.53 million shares today, while Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE) added four cents to $1.44 on 5.38 million shares. Neither company had news to share.
No day would be complete, one might think, without news from Roger Rosmus and his Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT), a busy beaver gnawing away noisily at Surebet, its rich discovery on the Golddigger project in northwestern British Columbia. (You would be mistaken for entertaining that thought -- the company and Mr. Rosmus, its president and chief executive officer, did manage to stay silent through most of May after all, but they now have had news to cheer in four of the last five sessions.)
