New York spot gold fell $2.10 Monday, to sit at $3,331.90 at the pause. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 1.69 points to 789.08 while the TSX gold index slipped 0.28 point to 568.68. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved lower today. Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN) was one, as it dropped 22 cents to $15.44 on 4.95 million shares. McEwen Inc. (MUX) was buoyant, as it added 58 cents to $14.57 on 239,000 shares.
Jorge Ganoza's Fortuna Mining Corp. (FVI) lost 13 cents to $9.95 on 1.33 million shares on new assays from its Seguela project in Ivory Coast. The headline hole returned 9.4 grams of gold per tonne across a true width of 17 metres, with a slightly deeper zone grading 2.1 grams per tonne across 13.6 metres. Several more of the new infill holes drilled at the Kingfisher deposit returned promotable grades and widths as well.
Fortuna also has assays from deep exploration drilling at the Sunbird deposit at Seguela. Those results included a 2.1-metre true width grading 25.2 grams per tonne in one hole, 11.2 grams per tonne across 5.6 metres in a second and 13.1 grams per tonne across a 3.5-metre true width in a third. Several other holes produced promising assays, and most of the holes yielded multiple intercepts, as was the case at Kingfisher.
