New York spot gold paused for air Thursday, dipping $9.50 to $3,548.60. The TSX Venture Exchange opened lower and ended the day down 2.85 points to 844.22, while the TSX gold index fell 3.92 points to 626.80. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today. China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) led the retreat, as it slid $2.09 to $20.41 on 81,000 shares in silence. B2Gold Corp. (BTO) tagged along, as it fell 10 cents to $5.60 on 12.11 million shares. Orosur Mining Inc. (OMI), on the other hand, continued its bull run: A 13-center in early July, it added 3.5 cents to 34.5 cents on 1.16 million shares today.
And now for the news: Jose Garcia's Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX) rose one-half cent to 39.5 cents on 3.56 million shares. Investors who awakened to word of a new dream sheet for the Nueva Recuperada silver project in Peru were unenthused, but on the other hand, Mr. Garcia, chief executive officer, and his crew were "extremely pleased" with results demonstrating that "years of dedicated work confirm Nueva Recuperada as a truly district-scale silver project that will continue to grow and operate for decades."
