New York spot gold fell $31.90 Wednesday to $3,656.60. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 1.14 points to 875.13 while the TSX gold index dropped 0.85 point to 659.73. Minera Alamos Inc. (MAI), which closed its $135-million financing today, added one cent to 36 cents on 3.65 million shares. Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) went the other way, dropping 40 cents to $15.38 on 1.8 million shares in silence.

Alexander Stares's Metals Creek Resources Corp. (MEK) jumped one-half cent to 2.5 cents on 4.71 million shares Tuesday. The company has wrapped up a prospecting program at its Ogden joint venture, just south of Timmins in Northern Ontario. (Metals Creek is the operator and holds a 50-per-cent interest, while Tony Makuch's Discovery Silver Corp. (DSV), which lost six cents to $4.82 on 4.44 million shares today, owns the other half.) The prospecting, cheers Mr. Stares, Metals Creek's president and chief executive officer, was targeting "prospective stratigraphy" -- rock, in other words -- west of the old Naybob gold mine.
