New York spot gold regained $40.40 Friday, ending the week at $3,684. The TSX Venture Exchange soared 25.29 points to 904.80 while the TSX gold index leapt 33.12 points to 695.47. Today's moves by miners were universally upward. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) was among the leaders as it added 79 cents to $9.33 on 9.27 million shares.

Rare is the instance when delay of an important document is good news, but one of them occurred today. Tara Christie's Banyan Gold Corp. (BYN) rose two cents to 72 cents on 1.32 million shares on word that it has officially acquired a 100-per-cent interest in its AurMac project in Yukon. The arrangement accelerated the acquisition from bankrupt Victoria Gold Corp. in exchange for $2-million on closing and $1.6-million within 75 days. As a result -- well, one of the results -- of the new arrangement, Banyan is no longer forced to complete a preliminary economic assessment by early December.
