New York spot gold rose $21.90 Tuesday, taking a breather at $4,066.40. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 8.01 points to 867.66 while the TSX gold index added 4.57 points to 736.69. Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG) was strong today, adding 90 cents to $34.40 on 451,000 shares, while Serabi Gold PLC (SBI) fell 18 cents to $4.54 on 91,000 shares.
Dan Wilton's First Mining Gold Corp. (FF) lost two cents to 34.5 cents on 19.06 million shares on word of an updated prefeasibility study of its Springpole project in Northwestern Ontario. The study is based on a reserve of 102 million tonnes grading 0.94 gram of gold and 4.9 grams of silver per tonne, about 3.1 million ounces of gold and 16.1 million ounces of silver. (The resource is larger but has a lower grade, with 191 million tonnes measured and indicated and 64 million tonnes inferred hosting 5.6 million ounces of gold and 34.5 million ounces of silver.)
