New York spot gold ended 2025 at $4,317,60, down $20.10 on the day but up $1,692 on the year. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 6.62 points to 987.74, while the TSX gold index dipped 8.96 points to 817.41. Atico Mining Corp. (ATY) lost 2.5 cents to 20.5 cents on 295,000 shares in silence today and Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) kept it company, dropping 25 cents to $7.04 on 2.37 million shares. Some moved northward. One, Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO), added three cents to $7.77 on 1.22 million shares. Another, Dynacor Group Inc. (DNG) added eight cents to $5.87 on 193,000 shares.
And now for the news. Today being New Year's Eve, there were no market-moving bombshells -- promoters perhaps preferring to start 2026 off with a bang rather than waste great assays on a slumbering market. Dr. David Palmer's (for now) Probe Gold Inc. (PRB) rose one cent to $3.67 on 892,000 shares as it lurched closer to being absorbed by Fresnillo PLC. The two companies revealed their friendly merger on Halloween, a plan calling for Probe's shareholders to get $3.65 per share in cash for their stock.
