New York spot gold rose $23.10 Thursday, taking a break at $4,997.10. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 20.87 points to 1,017.36 while the TSX gold index added 12.28 points to 1,003.05. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved higher today. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) rose $1.50 to $30.67 on 4.21 million shares and New Gold Inc. (NGD) jumped 98 cents to $16.33 on 5.04 million shares. Thor Explorations Ltd. (THX), on the other hand, dipped two cents to $1.49 on 2.18 million shares, while Orvana Minerals Corp. (ORV) lost two cents to $1.67 on 240,000 shares.
Clive Johnson's B2Gold Corp. (BTO) had a bigger fall, dropping 34 cents to $7 on 40.04 million shares, but it had news.
