New York spot gold reclaimed $51.80 Wednesday, taking a break at $5,139.50. The TSX Venture Exchange rebounded 3.29 points to 1,079.52, but the TSX gold index clawed back just 1.27 points to 1,014.70 -- neither move making much of a dent in Tuesday's losses. And so, while none of yesterday's big falls were met with equally big gains today, most precious metals miners did move northward. (Oh, there were laggards: New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) found a way to drop 11 cents to $3.52 on 1.35 million shares and Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) kept it company, slipping $1.02 to $52.70 on 1.43 million shares.)
One of Tuesday's 10-per-cent losers had a modest rally today. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA), down $1.42 yesterday, regained 60 cents to $12.90 on 2.19 million shares today, but another, Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX), down 15 cents yesterday, lost another cent today, closing at $1.04 on 2.42 million shares. Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) managed a 78-cent gain today, closing at $28.68 on 1.74 million shares.
