New York spot gold dropped $26.20 Wednesday, taking a break at $4,688.20. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 1.59 points to 1,016 while the TSX gold index shed 7.96 points to 934.91. Imperial Metals Corp. (III) had a good day, adding 55 cents to $7.17 on 871,000 shares, but there were as more downs as ups elsewhere. West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG) continued in its funk but broke even late, closing unchanged at 73 cents on 5.9 million shares. It had been as high as $1.49 earlier this year.
Segun Lawson's Thor Explorations Ltd. (THX) lost two cents to $1.40 on 501,000 shares on new assays from its Douta project in Senegal. The results include a seven-metre intercept at Baraka 3, which graded 4.28 grams of gold per tonne, and a shallow four-metre zone in the Makosa Tail zone, which graded 3.26 grams per tonne. As well, a four-metre near-surface interval at the Bousankhoba prospect graded 17 grams of gold per tonne.
