New York spot gold added $1.10 Monday, pausing for afternoon air at $4,328.50. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 8.70 points to 947.91 while the TSX gold index lost 2.78 points to 785.73. Most precious metals miners gained ground today. K92 Mining Inc. (KNT) rose 69 cents to $22.80 on 1.07 million shares today, and Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO) added 70 cents to $25.25 on 1.34 million shares. B2Gold Corp. (BTO), on the other hand, fell six cents to $5.77 on 10.56 million shares.
Brad Langille's GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) had a bigger move, adding 24 cents to $3.27 on 10.18 million shares, but it was prodded by word that the Mexican government has granted all the environmental permits and approvals needed to start construction of its Los Ricos South bulk-tonnage underground mine in Jalisco. Mr. Langille, president and chief executive officer, appreciatively bent the knee to the bureaucrats, proclaiming himself and his company to be "deeply grateful, and committed to Mexico and the people of Jalisco."
