New York spot gold jumped $93.90 to $4,312.10 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange surged 20.59 points to 979.82 while the TSX gold index leapt 50.42 points to 845.72. And so, precious metals miners moved northward in unison with some making great leaps forward in silence. One was Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA), which jumped 67 cents to $8.05 on 2.08 million shares. Another was Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA), which surged $2.74 to $28.87 on 4.29 million shares, and a third was Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM), which added $1.26 to $17.07 on 1.73 million shares.

Luis Albano Tondo's Jaguar Mining Inc. (JAG), up 28 cents to $5.93 on 350,000 shares, has new near-surface assays from the BA zone of its Pilar gold project in Brazil. The results, from 26 new holes, included a 10-metre intercept that graded 5.82 grams of gold per tonne, aided by a four-metre zone that ran 11 grams per tonne. The best grade was a 2.2-metre strike that averaged 18.2 grams per tonne, nosing out a 2.3-metre interval with 17.97 grams per tonne, if only because it began at surface.
