West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery added 67 cents to $74.38 on the New York Merc, notching its largest weekly gain since March of last year, while Brent for December added 43 cents to $78.05, notching its largest weekly gain since October, 2022 (all figures in this para U.S.). Western Canadian Select traded at a discount of $13.40 to WTI, up from a discount of $16.50 to WTI. Natural gas for November lost 12 cents to $2.85. The TSX energy index added 3.70 points to close at 283.89.

Terry Anderson's Alberta and B.C. Montney-focused ARC Resources Ltd. (ARX) added 61 cents to $25.10 on 6.82 million shares, as buoyant oil prices pushed it back over $25 for the first time in more than a month. ARC also stirred up some of its own excitement with an investor tour of its Attachie phase 1 project in the B.C. Montney. New photos posted on ARC's social media show a group of around 50 people being escorted around the project, which is about 90 per cent complete and is scheduled to achieve production in November and reach full capacity of 40,000 barrels a day in the new year. (For context, ARC's production was about 352,000 barrels a day in the second quarter, and the company says the two-phase Attachie project will boost this to 425,000 barrels a day by 2028.)
