The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a bleak 54-102-154 as the TSX Venture Exchange slid 16 points to 614. Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD), which had a market capitalization of $1.15-billion when it opened its 49-per-cent-owned Gahcho Kue diamond mine to great fanfare in the fall of 2016, rose one-half cent to 6.5 cents on 6,000 shares today. At that price, its market capitalization has sagged to just $13.8-million.
Gordana Slepcev's Lomiko Metals Inc. (LMR) rose two cents to 15.5 cents on 3,000 shares. The company is selling up to 4.44 million regular shares at 13.5 cents apiece and up to 2.35 million flow-through shares at 17 cents per share as it seeks a total of $1-million. This cash is for further development at the company's La Loutre graphite project in Quebec and for working capital, Lomiko says, although without offering a detailed breakdown of the proposed expenses.
