The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a comforting 87-53-170 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose two points to 719. Rana Vig and Yannis Tsitos's Troy Minerals Inc. (TROY) added 1.5 cents to 15 cents on 502,000 shares on word it has the final assays from the first hole drilled last year in its maiden program at Lake Owen, in Wyoming. The results show a 140.7-metre near-surface interval grading 1.53 per cent titanium oxide, 0.1 per cent vanadium oxide, 16 per cent iron oxide and -- hmm -- 70 grams of scandium oxide and 26 grams of gallium oxide per tonne.

Each new insight, he enthused, "reinforces our belief that this project deserves a robust exploration budget in the near future." (Not right now, in other words.) Yes, he mentioned the previously noted iron, titanium and vanadium, but he zeroed in on the scandium and gallium values as they are critical metals essential for applications in many specialized sectors.
