The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a positive 70-60-180 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose nine points to 812. It apparently takes a lot to move Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) these days. Star closed down one-half cent to four cents on 982,000 shares Monday despite word that its chairman, president and chief executive officer, Ewan Mason, is retiring. Mr. Mason arrived as a director in 2017 and became chairman in early 2019.
Mr. Mason added the titles of president and CEO at the start of 2023, as the company went through a bloodless coup with the retirement of its founder, Ken MacNeill, by mutual agreement late in 2022. That was an interim move, but Star Diamond made it official a few months into 2023, and since then Mr. Mason has tirelessly been beavering away, trying to resurrect interest in the company and its mammoth Fort a la Corne diamond project in central Saskatchewan -- "a glue job of keeping it all together" in Mr. Mason's words.
