New York spot gold rose $22.20 to close at $2,633.10. The TSX Venture Exchange added 5.06 points to 599.23, while the TSX gold index rose 7.04 points to 359.33. New Gold Inc. (NGD) was strong today, adding 16 cents to $3.89 on 2.37 million shares. China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) was stronger, as it added 69 cents to $6.99 on 42,000 shares. I-80 Gold Corp. (IAU) was the strongest, as it rose 14 cents to 77 cents on 7.34 million shares. Fortuna Mining Corp. (FVI) on the other hand fell six cents to $6.75 on 1.17 million shares.
Jose Vizquerra's O3 Mining Inc. (OIII) rose one cent to $1.10 on 136,000 shares on word it has the last of its assays from a 29,000-metre drill program at its Malartic H deposit, on the Marban Alliance project near Val d'Or in Quebec. The hits included a three-metre intercept that graded 30 grams of gold per tonne, with most of the gold sitting in a 0.7-metre stretch that ran 101 grams per tonne.
