New York spot gold fell $22.60 to $3,111.10 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange -- hold on to your hats -- slid 16.87 points to 614.28 while the TSX gold index dropped 7.51 points to 449.29. Despite the market response to President Trump's tariff fetish, some gold miners did well today. Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG) added $1.23 to $45.36 on 886,000 shares. Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO) also did well, adding eight cents to $16.54 on 2.15 million shares. There was no Trump dividend, as one analyst put it, for Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO), which slid 31 cents to $2.89 on 1.41 million shares.

David Adamson and Pablo McDonald's Solstice Gold Corp. (SGC) rose one-half cent to 4.5 cents on 109,000 shares on word that it plans a 3,500-metre drill program at its Strathy gold project in the Temagami district of northwestern Quebec. The work, which is set to begin this month, will include between 15 and 18 holes drilled to an average of 200 metres each at five high-priority targets. Those areas include both the northern and southern extensions of the Leckie fault zone and a series of geophysical anomalies in and around the Leckie area.
