New York spot gold rose $14.90 to $3,323.60 on Monday as the TSX Venture Exchange added 4.30 points to 725.90. The TSX gold index gained 3.13 points to 493.23 as most diamond miners listed in Canada moved higher today. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) jumped 68 cents to $6.84 on 5.92 million shares while Majestic Gold Corp. (MJS) rose 1.5 cents to 16 cents on 5.88 million shares. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) was among those southbound, as it fell $1.32 to $45.01 on 433,000 shares.
Joe Ovsenek's Tudor Gold Corp. (TUD) and Darren Blaney's American Creek Resources Ltd. (AMK) hit the news with a mix of harrumph and pizzazz today on word that Tudor will acquire American Creek in a friendly merger. The news sent Tudor down one-half cent to 55 cents on 1.3 million shares, while American Creek rose 1.5 cents to 11 cents on 4.72 million shares. The binding letter of intent -- a firm maybe -- has Tudor offering 0.238 of a share for each American Creek share, a premium of roughly 40 per cent.
