New York spot gold rose $14.40 Wednesday, taking a brief break at $3,638.70. The TSX Venture Exchange added 6.31 points to 867.53 while the TSX gold index gained 15.06 points to 665.39. Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX) carried on with its rally today, adding nine cents to 57 cents on 3.16 million shares. This was a 29-cent stock at the end of August, but an encouraging dream sheet for its Nueva Recuperada project in Peru has drawn out the bulls. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) also did well, adding $1.26 to $15.12 on 11.06 million shares in silence.
David Rae's Dundee Precious Metals Inc. (DPM) had a good day on new assays from its drilling in Serbia. A headline hit spanning 131.6 metres at depth returned 2.41 grams of gold and 12 grams of silver per tonne, plus 1.53 per cent copper, at the Dumitru Potok prospect, one of the company's several targets in the Rakita camp. The company also produced noteworthy assays over significant widths at Rakita North and Frasen, all of which sent Dundee up $1.61 to $29.55 on 1.5 million shares.
