New York spot gold regained $32.10 Friday, ending the week at $4,347.70. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 3.02 points to 927.86, while the TSX gold index added 11.26 points to 959.56. Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. (WPM) was strong today, as it added $5.08 to $213.75 on 628,000 shares. So was Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE), which added 11 cents to $2.84 on 2.51 million shares. Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM), on the other hand, fell 28 cents to $16.51 on 698,000 shares, while Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) slid 85 cents to $9 on 2.64 million shares.
Anthea Bath's Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO) jumped $1.54 to $35.06 on 753,000 shares on word it has drilled a 57.2-metre interval grading 7.8 grams of gold per tonne in the Norbenite Footwall zone, in the Kiena Deep area of its Kiena project, near Val d'Or in Quebec. Several other holes in the Kiena Deep area yielded promotable results, including a four-metre interval that ran 23.8 grams of gold per tonne, and a seven-metre hit that returned 6.4 grams per tonne.
