New York spot gold recovered $63.50 Tuesday, taking a break at $4,181.10. The TSX Venture Exchange lost another 6.94 points to 887.30, while the TSX gold index added 9.51 points to 897.5. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) did not get the message about bullion this morning, as it dropped another 33 cents to $12.38 on 4.03 million shares. Most precious metals miners did rebound, however, with Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG) adding $1.83 to $87.76 on 575,000 shares. It had plenty of company, including Centerra Gold Inc. (CG), which added 40 cents to $31.25 on 858,000 shares.
Jason Simpson's Equinox Gold Corp. (EQX) added 23 cents to $18.17 on six million shares on word that its multifront exploration program continues to yield assay encouragement. At its Musselwhite mine in Northwestern Ontario, underground drilling has produced up to 471 grams of gold per tonne across one metre in the PQ Extension area, while a 9.2-metre intercept in the Lynx area graded nearly 17 grams per tonne. Meanwhile, drilling along the Mine Trend Extension zone produced up to 10 grams per tonne across 22.9 metres.
