West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery lost 28 cents to $71.20 on the New York Merc, while Brent for June lost 28 cents to $74.49 (all figures in this para U.S.). Scott Ratushny's Cardinal Energy Ltd. (CJ) added three cents to $6.50 on 633,5400 shares, as it handed out a couple of promotions. It has appointed Devin Sundstrom as vice-president, north area, and Heath Williamson as vice-president, thermal operations. Both of them had joined Cardinal as managers of those respective divisions in 2023.
Besides their educational background and experience, which Cardinal briefly sketched out in the press release, it surely helped both men to have existing connections at Cardinal. Mr. Sundstrom previously worked with Dale Orton (Cardinal's chief operating officer) at Long Run Exploration and Galleon Energy, while Mr. Williamson was at BlackPearl Resources and Broadview Energy, both promotions of John Festival (a Cardinal director). Cardinal's thermal division got its start by buying assets from Broadview in 2023.
