Esgold Corp. has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against its former president, Brad Kitchen, over a $447,225 loan that he took out from the company. Esgold claims that it lent Mr. Kitchen the money in 2021 and 2022, but he only repaid some of the cash. The lawsuit seeks the court-ordered payment of the outstanding balance of $225,615.
The allegations are contained in a very brief notice of claim that Esgold filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Aug. 21, 2025. The sole defendant is Mr. Kitchen, who served as the company's president until May 29, 2025. (The circumstances of his departure are far from clear. The company issued a news release on that date proclaiming a "new era" and saying that it had undergone a "strategic leadership transition." At the bottom of the release, one line said that Mr. Kitchen "will no longer be serving as president of the company.")
